The Destination: Grindelwald in the Swiss Alps

The famous mountain village of Grindelwald is embedded in a unique Alpine landscape at the foot of the majestic Eiger north face – the legendary and most difficult mountain climb in the Alps. This mountainscape and the numerous lookout points and activities make Grindelwald one of the most popular holiday destinations in Switzerland, and the largest ski resort in the Jungfrau region.

About the Ressort

Explore the totally 213 kilometer of ski slopes while enjoying the amazing view to Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau from the 3 skiing areas right next to Grindelwald that you can choose from:

Grindelwald-First

Over 60 km of prepared slopes and 40 km of winter footpaths and torch sled runs coupled with a magnificent panorama of the north faces of the Bernese Alps. The "White Elements" snow park and the super pipe are very popular, as is the 30 limit ski slope, reserved specifically for slower skiers.

"First" offers the most fabulous views and is reached by gondola from Grindelwald - only a very short walk from Sunstar Hotel!

Grindelwald-Wengen

The ski region with 110 km of slopes and 30 km of toboggan runs lies right at the foot of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The famous and world-longest Lauberhorn World Cup Downhill starts here and leads down to the Wengen over a distance of over 4.4 km.

The ski region is reached by rack railway (Wengernalp) or by gondola (Männlichen) both from Grindelwald.

Mürren-Schilthorn

At an altitude of between 1650 - 3000 metres above sea level, the Mürren-Schilthorn ski region is the highest in the Bernese Alps and guarantees 54 km of ski slopes and top snow conditions.

For skiers and snowboarders there's the "Im Rad" snow park in Mürren and for non-skiers there are winter footpaths and torch sled runs. Just like James Bond in „On her Majesty’s Secret Service“ back in 1969 you can have a refreshing drink or a warm coffee while enjoying the view of 200 alpine summits in the rotating restaurant on famous Piz Gloria before doing the first run of the day.

The Mürren-Schilthorn ski region can be reached by car from Grindelwald via Lauterbrunnen within 40 minutes.
